Frozen Greek Yogurt Smoothie

IMG_9509

This weekend Hubby, Stepdaughter #2, and I made smoothies with some frozen Greek yogurt and they were DELISH.  Frozen Greek yogurt is a relatively new discovery for me–I think I discovered it while aimlessly wandering the ice cream isle at the grocery store last spring.  It has a delicious smooth taste and has only a fraction of the fat and calories of ice cream (and Hubby thinks it tastes just as good, if not better, than ice cream).  The only downside I can find so far is that it comes in limited flavors.  There’s still 8 or 9 flavors to choose from, so there are no complaints from me.  I can rotate between cherry, strawberry, peach, vanilla, pineapple, mango (not my favorite for plain eating, but definitely a smoothie candidate for next summer), blueberry, coffee, and, somewhere out there, honey (but not at my store…yet).  We had strawberry in the house, and bananas, so what a perfect match for a smoothie!  They are smooth, thick, and they fill me up, but not in a bad way.  A very satisfying way to begin your day (or, in our case, end it).

Frozen Greek Yogurt Smoothie (makes 2)

1 medium banana

2 cups frozen Greek yogurt, choose your flavor!

3/4 – 1 cup skim milk (use more or less depending on how thick you want your smoothie)

1 cup vanilla or honey Greek yogurt

Toss everything in a blender and mix until smooth.  Divide into 2 mugs and enjoy the smooth, creamy smoothie!
